n 1961 a board of trustees under President ship of Lady Roshan J Gandhi was constituted to start an eye hospital for the treatment & prevention of eye diseases & blindness. TISCO (now TATA STEEL) had allotted a plot of land at Sakchi. The foundation stone was laid by Sir Jehangir Gandy , Director – in – Charge , ‘Tata Iron &Steel Company Ltd’; on 29 March 1958 and the hospital commenced functioning in 1961.
